Brilliance

So in the midst of my sewing diaper covers for Norah, I came across an idea. I've seen "coverless Prefolds" that are fleece embellished on the outside so that it will keep the wet in instead of wicking out onto everything. So I said to myself, wouldn't it be cute to have an embellished prefold and a MATCHING cover? Of course it would. So I made a few, but they're too big for Norah, so I put them on DS, and you know what? It's brilliant. I have people begging me to make them special just for their kids

My other stroke of brilliance involves Hannah's diapers leaking. Constantly. I'm annoyed with this, obviously. So I said I should make a fleece cover to put over Hannah's diaper, and then it will keep the wet in even if it does leak.

Hello Genius, thanks for stopping by!

You forget

How absolutely adorable it is when they fall asleep in random places. I missed that and didn't even realize it.

Life won't be any different

Only it will, forever. When I was pregnant with Hannah I said to myself "Life won't be any different because all of the things we do are basically kid friendly" And for the most part it's true. Steven and I never go to movies, or out drinking or clubbing. We play mini golf and go out for ice cream and play board games and visit family. All of those things are very kid friendly.

Now we have two kids, and still do kid friendly things obviously, but there was one thing I overlooked and didn't even realize it until this weekend. A friend that I've known for a VERY long time (as in birthday parties before we could talk) got married last month. It was a small wedding so I of course thought nothing of not being invited. It just wasn't a big deal. I saw him this past weekend at my Dad's house. He said to me (as I was getting ready to feed Norah) "Are you going to be around tomorrow?" And I knew it was coming. Just another person asking me to do something I can't do for two reasons, the least of which being driving an hour with $4+/gallon gas.

I desperately would have loved to be at the reception yesterday for them at our church. I wanted to celebrate with them finding each other and being in love. However babies at receptions are just generally not looked highly upon, (especially I'm guessing for people who are choosing not to have children of their own) and I can't leave her and go off to a party knowing she's at home and miserable. So I stayed home.

So for all the new parents and parents to be who say "Life won't be any different" Yes, it will be different, and 99% of the time you will love every second of it. It's that other 1% that throws you for a loop.

Busy Busy Busy

Life is just crazy I guess. The big news is that Norah had her 4 month Well Baby appointment yesterday. She's officially growing like a weed! She was 12lbs 14oz (exactly twice her birth weight) and a rocking 25 1/4 inches long! I cannot believe how long she is. She did amazingly well with all the shots she got, and went to bed a little early, but slept ok. She practically stopped crying before I even picked her up when the nurse was finished.

We had a very nice holiday weekend. Steven was off on Thursday as well as Friday. Friday we went to Meme's house and had a cook out for dinner.

Steven and I had eye appointments last week, and I'm always amazed at how having medical insurance doesn't really help with the purchase of new glasses. For the two of us we spent a ridiculous amount of money, though thankfully that should get us a while before we need new ones again. Here's a pic of my new ones with my two favorite girlies
