Flow Murmur

Had another appointment today. After my episode I had on Christmas, my OB thinks I have what's called a "Flow Murmur". It's nothing serious, but it makes my heart race and skip beats. It will go away when I'm not pregnant and don't have all the extra blood. Otherwise everything went well, and I go back on January 18

Excitement

Still getting ready for Christmas, and getting bigger and more uncomfortable. Sleeping is kind of a pain right now, but I'm managing. Hannah is getting excited about having a baby sister, and she talks to her and touches my belly a lot. It's very sweet. I'm hoping she'll adjust well when she does get here, and not regress with her potty training, which she has done amazingly well with :)

Potty Training

I am cautiously optimistic. Today I instituted something new for PT. A sticker chart, new undies, and cookies. So far she's been in undies for 2 hours before nap and peed 3 times, 2 of which she told me she had to go! I'm proud of her no matter which way this goes, but I have to say I'd love to know if diaper days are numbered.

It all comes back

My Doctors appointment Friday was fine. I'm officially up to 15lbs, and the heartbeat was easy to find and sounded good. I'm still uncomfortable sleeping, but I'm certain that isn't going to get better for a few months yet.The mommy instincts are still strong. Last night at Hannah's friends birthday party, Kat handed me Magdalena and she fussed a bit, but it all comes right back. So much that she fell asleep with almost no trouble :) I'm very much looking forward to having our own bundle here. But not yet, since Steven has insisted we not think about all the things we need to get for her until after Christmas. So I'm anticipating a big trip to Target sometime in January :)

Uncomfortable

I'm officially uncomfortable, and I think it's because this little one is so much lower than Hannah was. Sleeping is getting difficult, and sometimes walking or standing up is a chore. Otherwise I still don't have much to complain about. I'm still very active chasing Hannah around and doing almost all the normal things I was doing before. The only thing I really can't do is give Hannah a bath, which I think has more to do with the shower doors than my actual belly. Today I have exactly 3 months until my EDD. Who knows what will happen by then, but only time will tell. Friday (Dec 7) I have another doctors appointment, and I'll have to get my Rhogam shot. Yuck

A late update

Hannah has finally had her EI evaluation, and she requalified under expressive/receptive language with a 25%+ delay, as was required. She is doing much MUCH better than she was this time last year, but according to the Speech/Language Pathologist, she still has a long way to go to catch up with her peers.Hannah is anxious for Christmas this year, and I'm so excited also. She will have so much fun and really "get it" this year. We had so much fun decorating the tree yesterday, and she just loves the train that goes underneath. She's also starting to understand about her baby sister. She knows where she is, and that she'll be coming out very soon. She was almost ecstatic when I told her that she can hold her baby sister when she gets here.

More Appointments

I had a doctors appointment on Friday, and everything looks good. I had gained a little more weight (I'm just under 10# total) and my BP was good. She's very active these days, sometimes to the point of making me uncomfortable. Thanksgiving is almost here and I can't believe that I'll be in the 3rd Trimester after my next appointment (Dec 7).

What's sleep?

I'm starting to be uncomfortable sleeping. I have a pillow for my knee's, but I'm not sure it's helping. It definitely was, but not so much now.

I'm still getting the "wow you're so small" comments. I honestly don't remember what I looked like around 24 weeks last time, but I certainly doubt I was huge. Mini Muffin is pretty active these days. I feel her lots during the day, but she's not nearly violent enough for anyone else to feel. No hiccups yet either, but the Braxton Hicks contractions have started.

Halfway

Still feeling good, and it's hard to believe I've hit the halfway point. I am more than 20 weeks now, and it's all gone by so fast. I'm sure at some point it will seem to drag on, but so far everything is going really well.

E.I. and Baby Sister

Hannah is still doing great. Her language improves every day, and her EI 1 year evaluation is scheduled for October 30. That will decide if she still needs service through them, or if she's caught up enough to not need any help from them. I'm torn about what I want. She clearly loves playgroup and gets a lot out of her sessions with Jennifer, so on one hand I know it would be great for her to qualify again and continue getting help until her birthday. But on the other hand, it would be nice to know that she doesn't have more than a 25% delay anymore.Hannah doesn't seem to understand baby sister totally. She says "hi" sometimes, and one night tried to share her milk with her sister. Most of the time though, I think she doesn't quite understand. Hopefully with a few friends either having babies recently, or due any day she can see the actual effects of Mommies being pregnant.

Mmmmm Massage

Had a regular OB appointment today, and things are fine. They had no trouble finding her heartbeat, and he says this will probably be the most comfortable time in my pregnancy. I really can't complain though, I've had it really good this time. Very little morning sickness, not much of anything except being tired. And I don't even feel all that tired really right now. I'm going for a massage tonight, so hopefully baby girl appreciates it :) I know I will.

It's A.....

Ok, sorry I'm just getting this down. It's been hectic here. The Ultrasound went really well. The tech didn't have hardly any trouble finding the parts she needed to (kidneys, heart chambers, fingers...) or the ones we wanted to see. She pointed out those three white lines that mean "girl" and I couldn't have been more surprised. As of right now I know about 8 women who are pregnant, and none of them are having boys. I thought for sure statistics say one of us has to, but not so far.

So Baby Girl is healthy and growing exactly the way she should be. All her parts are where they should be, and have the right number of them. The good news is the tech pointed out the placenta to me, so I asked where in relation to me did that put it. I was right, it's right up against my stomach, so that's why I'm not feeling very much movement. She said that's very normal :) I am much more relaxed now and not so worried. Now we get to spend time digging through all the containers in the attic to see what we still have and what we need to get.

fat or pregnant?

I think I finally got my first "Look you're pregnant" comment. Yesterday I took Hannah to the park and we met my friend Kat with her girls. Mimi looked at me and pointed at my belly and said "BABY in there!" LOL, yep, there sure is :D

2.5 years

Hannah had her 2 1/2 year checkup yesterday and everything looks good. She's growing great, and looks "perfect" according to the pediatrician. She said not to worry that Hannah doesn't want to potty train, that she will when she's ready and it's smart not to push it. I'm always glad to hear that, because I love it when I get affirmation that letting it be is the right thing to do.

Fun Times

Hannah's had a very busy few weeks. First a trip to NJ to see Michael and Kieran, and then a few days at the Cape with David and Allison. She's had such a good time, no wonder she seems cranky to be home. The Big E starts in a couple days, and we are actually going on Sunday, and I really think this will be the most fun year for her so far. She can listen much better, and can express herself. Which is by far the most important to me. It's hard to believe one year ago where her language was, and where it is now :)

My OB Appointment

I had my OB appointment, and all seems well. The intern wasn't able to find the HB, but the doctor was, and I wasn't nervous since interns suck. He commented on my 1lb of weight gain, but didn't seem TOO worried about it. Just made sure I'm eating and not throwing up. AND he scheduled my big U/s for Monday October 1. So assuming we don't have the most stubborn child on the planet, we'll be finding out what kind is growing in there :)

More road trips

Hannah and I had a blast in NJ, and there were no pee stops, in case you were interested :) We're going to the Cape on Wednesday, but first I have a doctors appointment tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully they'll be ready to schedule the big U/S before my next OB appt in October. We're anxious to know if Mini Muffin will cooperate so we can find out if we need pink PJ's or blue :)

NJ here we come

I'm feeling really good, aside from not sleeping well, but what can you do. I posted a picture in the photo gallery if anyone is interested. Hannah and I are taking a trip this weekend to NJ, so hopefully the Mini Muffin doesn't make me stop 12 times on the way there to pee.

Baby Pictures!

OB appt was today. She was unable to find the heartbeat, and since it was a little upsetting to me, she had no problem at all sending me downstairs for an ultrasound, so we have pictures of our beautiful baby!

Ten Weeks

10 weeks today. OB appt is next friday, and hopefully we'll hear the heartbeat!

I'm starting to show a little. I'm at the "Is she fat or is she pregnant?" stage. It sucks because nothing is really comfortable. I'm still really tired, but the morning sickness is entirely gone!

Negotiator

Hannah is doing just wonderfully. Her new favorite pastime is negotiating. If we say we can't do one thing, she says "How about....?" something else. It's pretty funny, and it shows how much she really knows and understands.

OB appt

Everything is still going ok. I can't get enough sleep, and I am starving. The morning sickness is getting better, or more manageable. I'm not sure which. Either way, things are going ok. Coming up on 8 weeks. I have an OB appt scheduled for August 10th

Morning Sickness

The morning sickness is here in full force, and sucks twice as much this time. Unfortunately the prenatal vitamin I'm supposed to be taking makes me incredibly horribly sick. Not a good sign. I'm going to try taking some other vitamins at least until the morning sickness goes away.

Mini Muffin

Ok, so for all the details here for those who don't know. I started spotting on and off two weeks ago, and when I was still spotting, but no period on Friday of that week, I took a test, which as you can see, clearly indicates what happened :)
We only tried for 4 months this time, so that's refreshing. I'm thrilled that I don't need a whole new wardrobe of maternity clothes, and that Hannah will be a big sister.
Steven wants a boy, but I'll be thrilled with a healthy baby of either kind :)

Transition

Hannah had a review through Early Intervention yesterday. It was clear that she'd met and exceeded some of her goals for playgroup, so we readjusted those to suit what she's doing now instead of what she was doing six months ago when she started. Jennifer also talked with me about the possibility of putting her in a transition group sometime closer to the fall. A transition group would mean that I drop her at the center and I leave while she does her thing with the group leaders. Instead of staying and working with her. Of all the things to wonder about, it's more wondering if I am the one ready for this, not her. My baby's gone and grown up on me.

More talking

Hannah is talking more every day. She's starting to put two words together, and is adept at conveying what it is she wants, regardless of whether or not it's something she can have. Ice cream is a favorite word, but sometimes she'll settle for fruit. I love going places with her, and she just seems to soak it all in. She has two teeth left to finish coming in, and then she's all done for quite a while. She's such a joy to be around, I can't even say how glad I am that she's not a *typical* two year old. Maybe that's due to the language delay, or maybe it's just her personality. Only time will tell

Road Trip

We just got home from a great weekend in NJ with some friends. Hannah had a fabulous time playing and running around. And I had a fabulous time having adult conversation and eating ice cream with Laurie

The ER

Hannah's starting to feel better, but not before she got much MUCH worse. She ended up in the ER twice. Once on Saturday night, and once Sunday night. Both times they had to insert an IV and give her fluids because she was starting to get very dehydrated.

She is getting back to normal now. Eating a little, and drinking, even if it is under duress. The worst part is that the virus that made her so sick, is being compounded because she also has the same bad cold I have. The cough is terrible, but a little medicine set her right. Hopefully she'll get lots of rest and feel good enough to go visit Grampy and Mimi like we're supposed to Saturday.

Sick muffin

Apparently we've hit our first gross milestone. Hannah's pretty sick, and yesterday she threw up all over me, herself, and the kitchen floor. She's just a miserable pumpkin. She slept good last night, but has been laying on the sofa with her pillow and bunny since she got up at 7. Send us some get well soon thoughts for my poor muffin.

Birthday Again

Hannah's birthday party is tomorrow, and the last of the cupcakes are baking now. She is seemingly excited, though I can't really tell if she understands or not. We can coax her to say "birthday" but obviously "cupcake" required no coaxing at all. There will be lots of kids here, and lots of pictures I'm sure.

A New Update

Wow, time flies doesn't it? Hannah has close to 100 words now, and appears to add new ones every day. One of her favorite new foods is banana slices spread with peanut butter. She's trying hard to jump, and the harder she tries, the harder we laugh. Not at her, but she's so silly, it just makes you giggle.

Hannah enjoys playing in the snow, and lately we have enough of it for her to actually play. I don't enjoy taking her out, but Steven sure does. I think next to "daheeee" her favorite word is "Ree Ree" because she can always find her buddy Gary somewhere.

Party Time

My girl is such a charmer. She was such a fun kid this weekend. Not that she isn't always, but especially so after spending all that time in the car. She napped for about 15 minutes in Connecticut and was awake the entire rest of the day. She didn't cry or fuss as I expected, and was mostly fascinated with the car ride. She had a blast playing with Kieran's toys while she napped, and made herself right at home. We had such a fun visit with Jenn and Todd and Steven got an actual Philly cheesesteak sandwich, which he is now in love with. The party was fun, if a bit crazy and messy. I'm getting on planning a birthday party for Hannah now. So obviously I'll let you all know how that goes.

Eating Lots

Hannah's still eating a LOT, which is either the growth spurt I thought, or she's making up for the eating strike she'll go on the next time she's teething.Wish us luck, we're driving to Philadelphia on the 27th for Kieran's birthday party! I hope Hannah is cooperative and happy that day, because otherwise all that time in the car will be miserable.

Goodbye 2006

Hannah's Christmas went really well. She had a great time on Christmas Eve with Meme and Grandma and everyone. She helped open her stocking and generally had fun. She loves her Mr. Potato head, and insists I make her dancing penguin dance for her every time we're in the playroom. Christmas morning she became obsessed with her kitchen that Mommy and Daddy bought her, and she plays with it, or the play pots and food, almost constantly. She also has a few more new words, so I have to say that she must just be stubborn, or a perfectionist. She is amazingly smart, and I love spending time with her every day.I think we're hitting a growth spurt, since she spent the two weeks before Christmas sleeping until 7am or later, and is now waking before six again. She's also eating everything in sight, which is amazing to see.
